Henry Rodrigues of Far Rockaway, Long Is. NY, passed away early Sunday July 15, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. He was 77.

Mr. Rodrigues ,a Holocaust survivor,  was born in Amsterdam, Holland. He and his sister, Elisabeth were hidden by two Dutch sisters in the countryside so their lives could be spared. Unfortunately, their parents were captured and sent to Auschwitz, where they perished.

He came to the United States after the war and settled in NY. Soon after his immigration, he was drafted into the US Army and made a tour of duty in Europe. He then returned to NY where he achieved his business degree and embarked upon a successful career with his own import-export business.

Because of the war, he had never been made Bar Mitzvah. He finally did so at the age of 50, at the Sephardic synagogue in Far Rockaway.

He lived in Far  Rockaway with his wife of 55 years, Renee, who survives him. He also leaves behind his son Albert, and daughter Lea, of Seaford, NY and grandson Joseph; and nieces Hetty Haden and Carolyn Stewart, of Maryland; Marilyn Chryssovergis of New Jersey, and nephews George Cassutto of Maryland and Benjamin Cassutto of Delaware.

His sister, Elly Rodrigues Cassutto, predeceased him.

Our Uncle was much loved and had such a great sense of humor. He will be missed very much by all who knew him.
