Allegany
County contains many different attractions. The largest is the C&O
Canal. The C&O Canal is in Cumberland,
Maryland. The C&O Canal is the crossroad of the B&O railroad
and the National Highway. The C&O towpath is great for biking and hiking.
You can also visit Rocky
Gap State Park which is a great outdoor recreational activity site.
George Washington headquarters and Emmanuel
Episcopal Church was built on the site of Fort
Cumberland which is located in Allegany County. A 1916 Baldwin Steam
Engine powers the Western
Maryland Scenic Railroad, which is open to be ridden year round. Thrasher
Carriage Museum has one of the most unique collections of horse drawn
vehicles in the country.
